Position Job Peer Mentor (Volunteer)

Location Flexible (Remote First, with some travel across the North East or North West)

Salary Voluntary role (expenses and development support provided)

Hours Minimum 3.5 hours per week (flexible)

Status Fixed Term to 28 February 2027

We're looking for people who want to use their own, relatable experiences to support others.

As a Peer Mentor, you'll work alongside Wise Group colleagues and customers, helping people facing real challenges - including housing, wellbeing, finances and life transitions - to take steps forward.

This is about connection, trust and showing what's possible.

The opportunity

As a Peer Mentor, you'll be part of a team delivering support across England and Scotland.

You'll receive training and ongoing support to work alongside colleagues, contributing to 1:1 support and group activities. Your role is to bring a different perspective - using your own, relatable, experience to relate, encourage and support others.

This is a structured volunteer role designed to support both customers and your own development.

What you'll be doing
  • Supporting customers alongside mentors in appointments
  • Providing encouragement, listening and practical support
  • Sharing your experience in a way that helps others move forward
  • Helping to co-deliver group sessions and activities
  • Supporting with follow-up actions, signposting and basic admin
  • Acting as a positive role model

  • Building trust and maintaining boundaries

How we work

Flexible Location (Remote First) - mainly home-based, with some travel across the North East or North West for face-to-face activity.

We have 4 intakes per year for volunteers:
  • Q1 - Applications open in March - Start date first week in April.
  • Q2 - Applications open in June - Start date first week in July.
  • Q3 - Applications open in September - Start date first week in October.
  • Q4 - Applications open in December - Start date first week in January.
