The Risk Management team is critical to Lloyd's achieving its long term aims by ensuring risks to the strategy are effectively identified, assessed and managed within risk appetites set by the Franchise Board.
The Role
Contribute towards the successful development and execution of the operational risk framework, ensuring the operational risks to Lloyd's are effectively identified, assessed and managed in line with the appetite set by the Franchise Board.
What Will You Do?
  • Contribute towards the successful delivery of the Lloyd's risk framework, for example by leading the risk and control assessment process which provides assurance to the Franchise Board that risks are being managed within risk appetite.
  • Support the Risk Management function by leading and contributing to the delivery of a range of risk management tools and reports to assess the key operational risks, principally people, process, systems and external risks arising from the activities of the Corporation. Maintain ongoing monitoring of the key current and emerging operational risks facing Lloyd's
  • Liaise with a range of stakeholders, including at senior levels, across Lloyd's to gather, assess and report key risk information, for example in reviewing the Lloyd's risk register and risk appetites.
  • To support the Risk Manager in challenging and critiquing in an appropriate manner the risk and control assessments of various departments as part of a robust second line of defence. This will entail for example producing timely and accurate MI to support meetings
  • Produce a range of regular and ad hoc reporting to provide the risk committees with the management information required to assess risk exposures.
  • Contirbute to strategic, thematic reviews of key risk areas, producing reports which can be provided to the executive, Risk Committee and Board where required. Support Lloyd's response to regulatory engagement on operational risks, including those in relation to overall market resilience.
  • To respond with agility to requests (e.g. ad hoc projects) from the Chief Risk Officer or Head of Risk Management
  • To support the broader Risk & Regulatory Function, and the Corporation as a whole, address risks and issues arising from the Lloyd's risk profile. To engage effectively with risk representatives and other risk specialists embedded across the business.
What You'll Need
  • Proven relationship management skills. The role involves significant interaction across the Risk Management department and Lloyd's more generally and across all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) are essential to effectively deliver the responsibilities of the role, including in the production of clear, accurate and easily accessible reporting to a range of audiences
  • Excellent time management skills, used to working to deadlines and under a certain amount of pressure. Ability to maintain effective personal workload plans that are achievable prioritised appropriately and meets business objectives.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, making effective contributions to team meetings and team initiatives.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and projects while working independently and without detailed supervision.
  • Act as a role model for others in the team and across the organisation, contributing to a positive and constructive team environment in line with the 'Spirit of Lloyd's'.
  • Excellent IT skills, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to solve problems and develop solutions to business problems.

  • Required Good understanding of Lloyd's and the insurance industry.
  • Desirable - Understanding of Risk Management, including knowledge of key risk concepts and approaches and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical business solutions.
  • Understanding of Solvency II (specifically Pillar 2) and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Project management skills to actively contribute to ad hoc projects.
  • Experience of working with or in a Risk Function or in a front line operational role
  • Lloyd's market or consultancy background (desirable).
