Job summary

This job post is to support the OPU MDT in the rehabilitation and prevention of deconditioning in acutely unwell patients over 75s as part of the drive to improve the quality of care for Older People.

This would be a great opportunity for experienced therapy support workers who would like to step-up into a more autonomous role and those who are interested in enhancing their leadership abilities.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be in charge of leading the rehabilitation of patients within one of the Older People's Unit Wards with distant supervision from senior qualified members of staff. They will also be actively involved in discharge discussions and planning with the MDT, patients and their families.

  • Education to GCSE and A level.
  • Evidence of training to meet the competencies specified in the job description for this post
  • Experience of working with the public in a health or care setting as a therapy support worker
  • Competent IT skills
  • Knowledge of anatomy/physiology
Desirable

  • Diploma/Degree in relevant subject or relevant qualification, e.g. NVQ 3
  • NHS experience
  • Experience working autonomously or lone working
  • Experience of leading exercise classes

  • Candidate is able to provide concrete examples of clinical experience as a support worker in a previous role

  • Candidate has taken formal CPD around rehab principles/practices
