The Opportunity Barnsley College is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Teacher in Agriculture to join our successful Landbased Industries team based at Wigfield Farm.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced agriculture professional who is keen to share their expertise and help learners develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for careers in the agricultural sector.
Working closely with programme managers and course leaders, you will deliver engaging lessons across a range of agriculture programmes, combining classroom teaching with practical learning experiences in a working farm environment.
As a Teacher in Agriculture, you will:
- Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality teaching and learning.
- Support and assess learners to help them achieve their full potential.
- Deliver practical and theoretical agriculture training.
- Promote high standards of animal and crop husbandry.
- Monitor learner progress and contribute to individual learning plans.
- Maintain a safe learning environment and promote safe working practices at Wigfield Farm.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure effective resource management and excellent learner outcomes.
- Contribute to quality improvement and curriculum development activities.
- Ensure assessment work is completed to agreed standards and within required timescales.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to support learner progress and maintain high standards across the provision.

About You You will be an enthusiastic and experienced agriculture professional with a passion for teaching, learning and student success.
You will have strong industry knowledge and the ability to train, inspire and assess learners effectively. You will be committed to delivering outstanding learning experiences and promoting high standards of animal and crop husbandry.
Alongside excellent communication and teamworking skills, you will be motivated, positive and adaptable, with the ability to support learners from a range of backgrounds and abilities.

Required - Level 3 qualification in Agriculture or a relevant subject area.
- Level 2/GCSE Maths and English qualifications (Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent).
- Level 4 teaching qualification (e.g. CTLLS) or willingness to achieve within an agreed timescale.
- Minimum of three years' relevant industry experience.
- Good knowledge of the agricultural industry.
- Ability to train and assess students.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
- Good team working skills.
- Motivational, positive and enthusiastic approach.
- Ability to embrace change.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
