Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Deliver direct care to a wide range of patients and incorporate independent non-medical prescribing, physical health assessment, diagnostic testing and interpretation.
  • Formulate tailored treatment plans in conjunction with the Ward Consultant.
  • Act as the shift lead working closely with the Matrons and nurse coordinators.
  • Be a professional role model to provide clinical leadership, support and guidance to the Virtual Ward team and ensuring full clinical oversight of quality and safety.
  • Initiate, manage and drive change in practice for the benefit of patient care and service development in line with local and national policy and the NHS People Plan.
  • Take an active role to ensure that evidence-based practice is maintained to deliver the Virtual ward agenda supporting earlier discharge from hospital and admission avoidance.
  • Hold delegated managerial responsibilities under the supervision of the Matrons and provide ongoing support to junior members of the team, participating in induction and training programmes.

Please note that this role requires the postholder to have access to a vehicle which can be used for work purposes or able to travel as required to meet the needs of the service. Please note not all office locations or client care bases may be reached by public transport.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NMC registration
  • Non medical prescribing
  • Degree study or currently working towards
  • Mentorship/teaching in clinical practice
  • Access to transport for travel requirements


Desirable criteria
  • Leadership course


Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive acute care experience
  • Experience in a senior role band 6/7/8
  • Experienced in leading a team
  • Experience in service change/quality improvement


Desirable criteria
  • Worked in emergency care portals
  • Evidence of teaching within a clinical setting
