Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • To be educated to 'O' level, GCSE or equivalent standard including English and Maths Experience of Microsoft packages


Desirable criteria
  • To possess 5 GCSE passes including English and Maths or equivalent


Experience

Essential criteria
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail
  • Good communication and telephone skills
  • Understanding and respect of confidentiality in the workplace
  • Previous customer service experience


Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in an office environment


Communication And Relationship Skills

Essential criteria
  • Provides the general public with advice regarding outpatient attendances
  • Exchanges information with patients and staff for appointments and general queries
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner
  • Ability to develop good working relationships
  • Must be understanding and helpful.


Desirable criteria
  • Experience of dealing with customers


Analytical and Judgement Skills

Essential criteria
  • Exercise judgement and know when to seek advice when dealing with patient enquiries.
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality work in line with Trust policies


Planning and Organisation Skills

Essential criteria
  • Planning and organisation of routine tasks.
  • Plan and organise own time.
  • Ability to prioritise own tasks.
  • Ability to work within the designated Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistent Trust wide practice
  • Good time management, planning and organisational skills required to prioritise workload.


Physical Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to retrieve files from shelving using appropriate equipment
  • Be able to stand/walk for prolonged periods
  • Be able to manipulate trolleys of patient notes.
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach towards working.
  • Frequent use of VDU equipment.
  • Ability to manually handle and manoeuvre equipment / loads.


Desirable criteria
  • IT skills to manage and report on complex performance management information


Other requirements specific to the role (eg be able to drive or work shifts)

Essential criteria
  • Must be flexible with start and finish times to support cover on weekends and early evenings. This can be discussed further at interview.
  • Staff must be able to drive or use public transport / lift sharing to travel to and from work at the NRC
