Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Master's Degree and/or equivalent level job-related experience in management
• Formal project management qualification such as PRINCE and/or Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) practitioner
• Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD)

Experience

Essential criteria

• Vast knowledge and experience of project/programme management including planning, risk management and benefits realisation.
• Demonstratable experience at a senior level in an NHS acute trust or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting.
• Experience of managing large scale change projects and track record of successful engagement with a variety of stakeholders
• Success in achieving substantial organisational change and implementing highly complex projects
• Experience of collaborative/partnership working within and across organisations
• Strategic thinking - ability to anticipate and resolve problems before they arise. Ability to analyse complex facts and situations and develop a range of option
• Financial awareness and business acumen
• Analysis and presentation of highly complex data

Desirable criteria

• Experience within an acute hospital setting.
• Experience of partnership working across organisational boundaries
• Experience of developing complex business cases.

Skills

Essential criteria

• Knowledge of NHS and regional health care policy, performance and management systems, current issues, NHS values
• Able to plan and organise a broad range of complex activities, on multiple and complex projects, including reporting and tracking of plans and actions
• Strong analytical skills and ability to consider the wider picture
• Proven ability to deal with wide range of data and information and take appropriate decisions from it, formulating and adjusting plans to reflect changing circumstances
• A proven ability to come up with flexible and creative solutions to difficult problems.
• Highly developed leadership skills with the ability to motivate, challenge and engage individuals and teams
• Demonstrable experience of delivering results through the development and management of teams to ensure success and use a range of levers in the absence of direct line management responsibility
• Political astuteness, understanding what can and cannot be delivered at senior level
• Excellent collaborative working skills and able to build strong relationships and a proven ability to influence and change those groups
• Demonstrable highly developed communication skills with the ability to communicate on complex matters and in difficult situations.
• Able to write high-quality reports, present confidently and persuasively to a variety of stakeholders including Executive Directors, senior clinicians and independent contractors
• Holding to account others to ensure they deliver to their targets and dealing effectively with performance
• Being able to manage own emotions and be resilient in a range of complex and demanding situations.
• A strong commitment to openness, honesty inclusiveness and high standards in leadership.
• Advanced IT Skills i.e. in Excel, MS Teams, PowerPoint and Word.
