Appointments are on a fixed-term basis for up to four years, or until completion of clinical training (CCT), whichever occurs sooner. What you would be doing

In this role, you will:
  • Undertake 50% protected research time alongside 50% clinical training
  • Develop your academic portfolio and establish independent research directions
  • Contribute to high-quality research outputs and funding applications
  • Participate in teaching, mentoring, and academic leadership activities

The successful applicants to these NIHR Clinical Lectureships will join internationally recognised research groups at Imperial College London. You will be trained in cutting-edge, state-of-the-art techniques and supported to undertake research that improves health and wellbeing.

You will be encouraged to develop your own innovative and independent research programme, with the aim of delivering high-quality peer-reviewed publications and securing competitive research funding.

Applicants must hold GMC registration at time of applying with a licence to practise by start date, have already completed a higher research degree (PhD, MD (Res) or equivalent) submitted at time of applying and awarded by time of appointment, and meet all essential criteria outlined in the relevant person specification.

As this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check , at the appropriate level, will be required for the successful candidate.

What we are looking for

We are seeking candidates who:
  • Hold (or been found appointable to hold) a National Training Number (NTN)
  • Have completed a PhD, MD, or equivalent research degree in preterm birth research - submitted at the time of application and awarded by start date.
  • Demonstrate clinical and academic excellence
  • Show evidence of research productivity and leadership potential
  • Are motivated to develop a career as an independent clinician-scientist
  • Can work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Hold MRCOG Part 3
