Job description

NEC Project Manager - South East England/ London East Sussex / Kent (Predominantly Site-Based) NEC Project Manager

At Jacobs, we're delivering some of the UK's most important infrastructure programmes, helping clients solve complex challenges across transportation and the built environment. As our NEC portfolio continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced NEC Project Manager to join us and play a key role in the successful delivery of projects across East Sussex and Kent.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to project delivery and wants to apply their NEC expertise where it can genuinely make a difference. You'll be joining a business with a strong reputation, working alongside experienced project delivery, commercial and engineering professionals on programmes that improve critical infrastructure and deliver lasting benefits for local communities.

We're looking for someone who has genuinely performed the NEC Project Manager role on live projects and understands the responsibility that comes with it. This isn't simply a project management position on an NEC contract. We're seeking someone who has been responsible for administering the contract, making contractual decisions and helping clients and contractors navigate challenges before they become problems.

As the NEC Project Manager, you'll become a trusted part of the client's delivery team. You'll be relied upon to bring clarity, sound judgement and confidence to project decisions. Whether you're managing Early Warnings, assessing Compensation Events, reviewing programmes, certifying payments or providing contractual advice, your expertise will help keep projects moving forward and ensure the principles of the NEC contract are applied effectively.

What makes a great NEC Project Manager isn't just technical knowledge. It's the ability to build credibility with both clients and contractors, communicate clearly, and make balanced decisions that support successful project outcomes. We're looking for someone who can establish those relationships, challenge where necessary, and provide the leadership and assurance clients need throughout project delivery.

Your experience will bring real value from day one. You'll help clients manage risk proactively, improve collaboration between project partners, avoid unnecessary disputes and create the conditions for successful delivery. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of NEC expertise across Jacobs, sharing knowledge and helping strengthen our capability as we continue to expand our project delivery services.

This is a predominantly site-based role across East Sussex and Kent. We believe the best outcomes come from being close to the project, building relationships with stakeholders and understanding the challenges being faced on site. As such, regular attendance at client and project locations will form an important part of the role. We are specifically interested in candidates who can demonstrate that they have:
* Been formally appointed as the NEC Project Manager under an NEC contract; or
* Operated as an Assistant NEC Project Manager carrying out NEC contract administration duties on behalf of the named NEC Project Manager.

In addition, you'll bring:
* Practical experience administering NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts on live infrastructure or construction projects.
* Strong stakeholder management skills and an ability to build trusted relationships across client and contractor organisations.
* A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or another relevant built environment discipline.

NEC Accreditation (NECReg) is preferred.

However, we recognise that accreditation alone does not demonstrate delivery experience. Candidates with substantial recent experience performing the NEC Project Manager role on live projects will also be considered, particularly where they are willing to work towards accreditation.
