Job summaryThe post holder will work as a specialist diagnostic practitioner in MRI and be responsible for a variable caseload of patients. Patients will present with a full range of complex conditions and the post holder will be responsible for carrying out the appropriate diagnostic procedures to support the diagnosis of complex conditions.
The post holder will supervise, support and assist students andjunior radiographers in service delivery and personal development.
To organise and oversee the training of radiographers and students in all aspects of MRIscanning, including comprehensive competency assessments.
In conjunction with the MRI Managers, promote continuous improvements in service deliveryand quality within all areas of the MRI service, using modern methods to improveproductivity, leading in the delivery of service and workforce transformation, and re-design.
The Post-holder will manage the work of staff in the department and develop a culture in which members of staff are continuously improving the delivery of high quality services. The post-holder will ensure the development and acceptance of challenging but realistic objectives for staff and through leadership, motivation and systematic performance management, achieve the required results.
Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will participate in the effective and safe running of the MRI department and will be able to perform a wide range of specialist MRI scans in the extended hours 7-day service. The post holder will offer supervision to band 6 radiographers, imaging assistants, students, and visitors to the MRI department. The post holder will ensure patient flow in the trust by actively managing the flow of emergency and in-patients to ensure same day scanning. Furthermore, they will be expected to engage in prompt protocolling, checking of conditional devices, booking of sedated patients, liaison with radiologists and other clinicians to actively unblock barriers to scanning. The post holder will be key in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and experience and will be enabled to deal with and diffuse potential complaints to the patient and carers' satisfaction.
