Detailed job description and main responsibilities We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated person to join our small but dedicated team within the Mortuary.
Staff members are expected to work flexibly as part of a busy team, participating in regular rotation between UHL's mortuaries on all 3 hospital sites to ensure a comprehensive and resilient service across the Trust.

This can happen quickly, therefore early application is advised.Mortuary work involves a significant amount of physical, manual work and can be emotionally challenging. Appropriate advice from Trust health and safety professionals may be sought during the recruitment process to ensure prospective new team members are appropriately supported.Please note a tour of the department and assessment prior to interview will be required. Person specificationQualifications/Training Essential criteria - Broad general education to GCSE level or equivalent.
Experience Essential criteria - Previous mortuary or allied service working experience.
Desirable criteria - Evidence of an ability to work to a high standard under pressure or to deadlines.
- Experience of using Pathology or other healthcare computer systems.
Communication Skills Essential criteria - Evidence of a good understanding of the importance of good customer relations.
- Displays empathy and a pleasant, helpful manner.
- Flexible approach to team working
- Evidence of ability to communicate effectively, accurately and appropriately at all levels by telephone and face to face
Desirable criteria - Previous experience of working with the bereaved
Analytical/Judgement Skills Essential criteria - Excellent attention to detail
- Can work accurately and methodically according to written procedures
- Uses initiative within scope of role/practise. Aware of own limitations
Planning/Organisational Skills Essential criteria - Ability to work accurately following verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to prioritise work appropriately
Skills Essential criteria - Physical ability to carry out the tasks required by the role
Desirable criteria - Evidence of manual dexterity and patient manual handling experience
Team Working Essential criteria - Flexible approach to team working
- Evidence of social and team working skills.

The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.
The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.
