We are recruiting a Midday Supervisory Assistant at Caerphilly County Borough Council.Working hours: 5 hours per week

Contract Type: Part Time, Term Time Only and Permanent
Location: Derwendeg Primary School
We pay an attractive salary of £3,109 and offer access to training and development opportunities. The Governing Body of Derwendeg Primary School seeks to appoint a Midday Supervisory Assistant to ensure the safety and wellbeing of pupils during lunchtime breaks, in accordance with the practices and procedures of the school. A reliable and professional person is required for this demanding but rewarding role within the school.
The midday supervisors are very much a part of the team and central to the school. The successful candidate will have a calm and positive manner with children and will assist in promoting positive behaviour.
The successful candidate will possess good communication skills and enjoy working with children. They will have a commitment to making lunchtimes a happy time and will be keen to engage pupils in play activities.
Duties include:
- To supervise children during the lunch break
- To help children eating their school dinner or packed lunch
- To supervise children in the playground
- To supervise children in their classes during inclement weather
- To play games and undertake activities with the children
- To deal with minor accidents and injuries and administer some First Aid
- To manage children's behaviour positively
- To maintain confidentiality
- To safeguard all pupils

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to school for a short interview which will be held on 29th September 2026.
Starting date: as soon after as possible (Pending satisfactory Safeguarding and Recruitment checks)
The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 12pm - 1pm (1 hour per day).
For the role, we ask that you have: - An understanding of the role of a Midday Supervisor and the responsibilities associated with working with children.
- The ability to communicate with children with care, empathy and understanding.
- The ability to work as part of a team.
