Job summaryWe are currently seeking an enthusiastic, reliable Medical Secretary to work as a key team member within our Acute Assessment Unit, supporting this very busy department.
You will provide a high standard of administration duties working alongside and supporting the clinical team on the Acute Assessment Unit.
** Please note this may close early if we receive sufficient applications **Main duties of the jobYou will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as having an exemplary telephone manner. We are looking for a friendly, approachable, well organized & efficient team player who uses initiative, and is able to prioritise own workload under supervision. A flexible and positive approach to team work with a "can do" attitude is also essential.
Applicants should be educated to GCSE level and have a minimum of OCR level 2 Word / text processing, plus recent medical secretarial experience. Experience of audio typing and working in a busy secretarial environment is required.

Person Specification Knowledge Essential - Knowledge of the NHS Constitution & 'Understanding the New NHS' Competent in Microsoft Office Software or equivalent administrative programs. SystmOne
Skills Essential - Ability to work autonomously and proactively. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good organisational skills. Able to prioritise work effectively and deal with non-routine tasks under pressure.
- Excellent computer skills, including data inputting
- Bighand or other Audio Typing Software
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
Qualifications Essential - GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths & English
- RSA/OCR level 2 word/text processing or equivalent experience
Desirable - Business admin qualification level 3
