Job summaryWe are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic maternity support worker (MSW) who is passionate about providing support to develop their colleagues. The MSW framework provides an outline of required skills for all MSWs, and the successful postholder will be responsible for working with all MSW's across the Trust ensure they continue to meet the requirements of the MSW framework. They will also support newly appointed colleagues to achieve the requirements of the role.
Main duties of the jobIn conjunction with the operational matrons, support with on-boarding and training of newly appointed MSWs to meet the requirements of the national MSW framework
Support with on-going training and development of MSWs across the breadth of maternity services
Support with the appraisal process for MSWs
Provide 1-2-1 support within the clinical setting as required
Identify opportunities to engage MSWs in quality improvement within the scope of their role and improve job satisfaction

Person Specification Education Essential - GCSE Grade C English Language or equivalent
- Secondary education
- Completion of Trust care certificate
Special circumstances Essential - Ability to work flexibly, across both sites.
- Willingness to support other areas of the service as the need arises
Experience Essential - Minimum 2 years' experience of working in a maternity healthcare setting
- Experience of teaching both individuals and groups
- Previous experience of working within a Ward/Community setting
- Previous experience of working in a team
Skills, ability and knowledge Essential - Patient confidentiality
- Good communication skills both verbally and written to enable liaison with multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrate ability to organise own workload, prioritise and take initiative where necessary
- Logical approach to work, thorough and accurate
- Be flexible and work as part of a team
- Ability to communicate clearly verbally; open, pleasant, and confident manner
- Computer literacy eg can use email, write documents, use internet
Desirable - Knowledge of NHS Trust and use of electronic patient record system
- Knowledge of Data Protection Act
