The Manchester School of Theatre is looking for a reliable and creative student photographer to capture high-quality images of performances, rehearsals and showcase events throughout the academic year.
This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in photography, theatre or the arts to gain professional experience while building an impressive portfolio. The successful applicant will photograph a range of productions and events, edit images to a professional standard, and upload final photographs within 24 hours of each event.
Key Responsibilities - Photograph Manchester School of Theatre performances, rehearsals and showcase events.
- Capture engaging images that can be used for promotional and archival purposes.
- Edit photographs to a professional standard.
- Upload completed images within 24 hours of each event.
- Manage and organise digital files appropriately.
- Work professionally and sensitively within rehearsal and performance environments.
Scheduled EventsThe role will cover the following activities across the academic year:
- MA/MFA Performance Liminal Festival (Week commencing 28 September 2026) - 20 hours
- BA Acting - Animal Farm Rehearsal (4 November 2026) - 4 hours
- BA Acting - The Wife of Willesden Rehearsal (18 November 2026) - 4 hours
- BA Acting - The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Rehearsal (9 December 2026) - 4 hours
- BA Acting Showcase Manchester (22 January 2027) - 4 hours
- BA Acting - Blue Stockings Rehearsal (5 March 2027) - 4 hours
- BA Acting - Earthquakes in London Rehearsal (17 March 2027) - 4 hours
- BA DCP Project 4 (Week commencing 17 May 2027) - 8 hours
Please note: The hours listed include photography, editing and uploading of images.
Person SpecificationEssential - Must be a current Manchester Metropolitan University student.
- An existing portfolio demonstrating event photography experience.
- Strong photography and photo-editing skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
Desirable - An interest in theatre, performance or the arts.
- Experience photographing live events or performances.
You do
not need to be studying Acting, Digital Content Production (DCP) or Photography to apply.
EquipmentApplicants will be expected to provide their own photography equipment. However, cameras can be hired through the University's AV Store if required.
