What you will do: - Design detailed audit engagement plans and confirm completion of recommendations, focusing on major current and emerging risks.
- Undertake risk-based audits to identify, evaluate, and agree on key risks with risk owners.
- Evaluate controls, design and apply tests to ensure control systems are effective.
- Report audit conclusions and provide assurance levels, making balanced recommendations where needed.
- Adhere to established standards and processes to ensure timely delivery of work.
- Provide guidance and support while managing assigned work within budget and timeframe constraints.
- Engage in research on emerging risks and provide high-level professional advice.
- Conduct specific investigations into irregularities, fraud, and sensitive issues.
- Provide evidence for disciplinary procedures, liaise with the police, and attend court hearings if necessary.
- Contribute to departmental working parties and participate in regional and national professional bodies.
- Proactively identify areas for improvement and development in the service.
- Stay updated on developments in governance, risk management, and internal control.
