On-CallThe on call commitment is 1 in 10. No elective activity is undertaken whilst on call or for the post take ward round the following morning.
Person specificationEducation/Qualification Essential criteria Desirable criteria - Post Graduate thesis
- Entry on GMC Specialist Register
Academic Achievements (including research and publications) Essential criteria - Publication of post graduate articles in peer reviewed journal
Desirable criteria - Experience of NIHR Portfolio trials
Teaching and Training Essential criteria - Experience in training Resident doctors
Leadership/Management Skills Essential criteria - Interest in research and service development
- Ability to both lead and work within a team
- Shows respect for and values all colleagues
- Good interpersonal skills
Desirable criteria - Communication skills training
Knowledge/Skills/Clinical Expertise Essential criteria - Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical management of Emergency Upper GI/General Surgery patients
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical management of Upper GI patients
- Able to offer expert advice on the management of Upper GI problems
