Essential

Medical Degree

MRCP or equivalent qualification

Registered with and has a full licence to practice with the GMC

Entry on the GMC specialist register via CCT or CESR

Eligible to work in the UK

Experience in teaching & supervising medical students and junior trainees

Experience of undertaking audits and presenting their findings

Desirable

Higher teaching or research qualification

Completion of recognised subspecialty training in gastroenterology

Professional Registration/ Qualifications / Specialist Listings

Essential criteria

• MBBS/MBCH and MRCP
• Eligible for entry on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of receipt of CCT in Gastro at time of interview
• Full GMC Registration with a License to Practice

Desirable criteria

• Higher degree: MD/ PhD
• Teaching qualification e.g. Masters/ Diploma in medical education

Clinical Skills/Experience

Essential criteria

• 5 years supervised training in an appropriate StR or equivalent training programme, together with a high standard of clinical skill

Desirable criteria

• Completion of recognised subspecialty training Within Gastroenterology.

Teaching and Audit

Essential criteria

• Experience of and commitment to, teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.
• Evidence of participation in clinical audit

Research Experience

Essential criteria

• Publications in peer-reviewed journals

Desirable criteria

• Original research publications
