Job summary

Locum Consultant in Radiology

This post is for a Locum Consultant Radiologist at Barts Health NHS Trust with a sub-speciality interest in Oncology, GI, GU, IR, MSK, paediatrics or cardiothoracic imaging. We are looking for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our existing team of radiologists to help deliver the service and to support the active training programme. The post will be primarily based at Newham University Hospital.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent up-to-date general radiology skills, as well as having a sub-speciality training and experience. They should be a team player, will need to demonstrate professional excellence and the ability to deliver compassionate and efficient patient care in a timely manner. They will need to agree levels of activity and throughput with the Imaging Clinical Director and Clinical Leads. These activity levels will be aligned to the increasing activity and demand of the radiology department.

Research and teaching activities are encouraged and supported by the active academic department and there is a highly successful training programme with more than 35 radiology registrars in the trust.

Main duties of the job

To support, develop and enhance the general and specialised imaging service at Barts Health NHS Trust.

To contribute to the high-quality consultant-led diagnostic radiology service at Newham University Hospital.

Participate in the on-call service.

To support other imaging developments within the Trust and within North East London (NEL) Imaging Board.

To provide evidence-based care for all patients.

To always adhere to appropriate clinical and quality standards.

To liaise effectively and on a timely basis with hospital colleagues, General Practitioners, community services, and relevant healthcare agencies.

To maintain and promote team and multi-disciplinary work.

To participate in the management of the Departments and to liaise closely with the Clinical Director and the General Manager.

  • The Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) or equivalent.
  • Possession of CCT in Radiology or within 6 months of acquiring the CCT
  • On CESR/ portfolio pathway
Desirable

  • MRCP/MRCS
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Radiology
Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience in diagnostic radiology
  • Experience in quality improvement
  • Experience of management of clinical governance within an NHS setting
