Job summaryNUH is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Locum Consultant with special interest in Adult and Paediatric Uveitis and Medical Retina. The post is for 12 months.
Successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team of Rheumatologists and Specialist Nurses in managing our Adult and Paediatric Uveitis service. There will also be one session in Adult Medical Retina and one theatre session managing complex cataract.
Main duties of the jobA full range of Ophthalmology emergency and elective patients are admitted to Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and the appointee will be responsible for the management of those patients admitted under his/her care.
Provision with Consultant colleagues of a comprehensive elective and emergency Ophthalmic service.
Provision of reciprocal cover for periods of leave.
Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge and the proper functioning of the department.
These duties are subject to review from time to time in the light of the changing requirements of the service. If alterations to the described duties are required these will be mutually agreed between the appointee, his/her consultant colleagues, and the Trust.
The person appointed will be required to devote substantially the whole of his/her time to the duties of the post and give them priority at all times.
About usThe Ophthalmology Department is situated in a purpose-built Eye and ENT Unit at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and comprises a team of 24 consultants providing general and specialist ophthalmic care for the Nottingham area and beyond. The department undertakes teaching for 150 medical students per annum and training for medical and nursing staff. NUH is a tertiary referral centre for many eye conditions.
