Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts, the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Medway Community Healthcare or working on the Staff Bank within these organisations. Nursing and AHP vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses/AHPs.

We are looking for anenthusiastic and organised Lead Pharmacy Technician - Specialist Servicesto join ourprofessional team.

Main duties of the job

Your daily activities will be varied to include leading the support for elements of the following Specialist Services workstreams:
  • Medicines safety and governance - Incident Reports (DATIX), Medicines Management Audit, Controlled Drugs
  • Medicines expenditure monitoring and analysis
  • Supporting services with medicines supply, adherence to formularies and identifying efficiencies
  • Patient Group Directions, Protocols, Policies and SOPs.

Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust is due to integrate with Medway Community Healthcare on 1 October 2026. Essential

  • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Accredited qualification in Medicines Management or historical equivalent (Regionally Accredited Consultation Skills plus Medicines Management Skills) or equivalent
Desirable

  • Practice supervisor qualification or equivalent qualification.
  • An educational supervisor qualification would be an advantage
Experience

Essential

  • Post qualification medicines optimisation experience in a hospital or clinical setting
  • Experience of undertaking audit and responding to outcomes
Desirable

  • Experience in Primary/Community and secondary care pharmacy services
Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • A full, valid UK driving licence or a full driving licence issued by an EU country (not exchanged from a non-EU country) and the ability to travel independently are essential for this role.
  • Able to prioritise service delivery in a professional manner, taking into account Trust policies and procedures.
  • Sound communication skills in order to understand and communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work effectively with a variety of people at all organisational levels across different sectors
