Job description

On 1st August 2026, The University of Greenwich and the University of Kent formed a pioneering new multi-university group called London and South- East (LASE) University Group. Should you join us, you will be employed by LASE but will work as part of the University of Greenwich academic division, contributing to its distinct strengths, community and identity while also being part of a wider group that brings together the scale, resilience and shared ambition of both universities. Through LASE we aim to deliver outstanding education, impactful research, and meaningful regional and global impact.
About the PartnershipThe University of Greenwich has secured a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) grant from Innovate UK to deliver a transformative digital manufacturing project in collaboration with Moorside Precision Limited, a Dorset-based specialist in high-quality precision manufacturing. The project focuses on digital transformation and the integration of emerging technologies into Moorside Precision Limited 's production value chain, through AI-driven product development, digital manufacturing, and sustainable innovation.
This partnership addresses a critical challenge facing many UK SMEs: transitioning from traditional, skills-based operations to a digitally enabled enterprise. The project will help Moorside Precision Limited move from traditional manufacturing operations toward becoming a regional leader in digital manufacturing - enabling diversification into overseas exports and high-growth sectors such as aerospace, defence and healthcare, and supporting long-term, sustainable competitiveness.
Role Overview and Key ResponsibilitiesAs the KTP Associate, you will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the project within Moorside Precision Limited, acting as the vital link between the company's shop floor and management, and the University of Greenwich's academic expertise. You will drive innovative design and product development, and the embedding of digital and AI-enabled systems across the company's design, planning, production, and quality functions - building lasting internal capability rather than a one-off solution.
You will manage the project largely independently, applying strong problem-solving, project management, team working and communication skills, while drawing on regular supervision and technical support from both your Academic and Company Supervisors. The work plan will be reviewed and adjusted throughout the project to respond to new challenges and industrial needs. Over the course of the project, you will develop into a genuine change agent within the business.
While employment is with the University of Greenwich,
the role taker will be based and will work in the Moorside Precision Limited's office in Dorset.
Why Join Us?- Joint supervision and mentoring from experienced academic staff at the University of Greenwich (Faculty of Engineering and Science) and senior management at Moorside Precision Limited.
- A unique opportunity to work on a high-impact, Innovate UK-funded digital transformation project within a growing advanced manufacturing SME.
- Establish yourself as a leading expert in Digital Manufacturing and Innovative Product Development.
- A structured programme of professional development, including access to KTP-funded training and the opportunity to work toward a recognised management qualification.
Significant scope for career progression: many KTP Associates go on to secure permanent leadership roles within their host company, pursue further academic study, or build specialist industry careers.
