CORPORATE INFORMATION MANAGER

House of Lords - Parliamentary Knowledge and Information

BELONG HERE. TOGETHER, WE MAKE PARLIAMENT HAPPEN.

As a Corporate Information Manager, you'll play an important role in supporting the UK's parliamentary democracy. Your work will help Members carry out their responsibilities effectively - contributing to something bigger than any one role.

You'll be part of a collaborative community, working alongside colleagues from a wide range of professions. Together, we make Parliament happen.

You'll be based on the Parliamentary Estate in Westminster - a unique working environment shaped by history and powered by the people who work here today.

This is an exciting opportunity to work part of a friendly team that will help Parliament manage its information effectively, securely and responsibly. By providing professional expertise, practical support and guidance, you'll play an important role in helping colleagues across Parliament make the most of the information they create and use every day.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you'll:
  • Provide expert advice, guidance and practical support to colleagues on the application of information management policies and procedures. You will help teams adopt good information management practices by reviewing current approaches, identifying opportunities for improvement, and working collaboratively to implement effective solutions that support compliance requirements.
  • Support the effective use of Microsoft 365 as an information management tool, including designing and maintaining SharePoint sites and Microsoft Teams spaces, and helping to ensure appropriate access permissions are in place to meet business needs.
  • Work in partnership with business areas to support their authorised disposal of information in line with organisational policies and relevant legislative requirements.
  • Design, develop and deliver engaging training and awareness activities that help colleagues build confidence and capability in good information management practices.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who can bring their skills and experience to make a meaningful contribution here.

You'll have:
  • Information Management Knowledge

You'll bring a good understanding of information management principles, legislation and best practice, together with experience of applying this knowledge in a practical setting. You will use your expertise to support colleagues, promote good information management practices, and contribute to the effective management of information across Parliament.
  • Planning and Prioritisation

You'll be able to organise and manage your workload effectively, balancing competing priorities and adapting to changing needs. You will be comfortable working independently when required, using initiative and sound judgement to deliver high-quality work and meet agreed deadlines while contributing to wider team objectives.
  • Communication and Engagement

You'll have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain information management concepts clearly and confidently to a wide range of audiences and justify solutions in a way that is meaningful and persuasive. Whether through guidance, training, communications or meetings, you will be able to engage colleagues, build understanding and encourage positive outcomes.
  • Collaboration and Relationship Building

You'll enjoy working with others and be able to build positive and productive relationships across Parliament. By working collaboratively, inclusively and flexibly with colleagues within the Information and Records Management Service (IRMS) and beyond, you will help identify solutions, share knowledge and achieve shared goals.
  • A qualification or certification in information management or a related discipline (or working towards this) and/or equivalent knowledge gained from practical experience working in the field.

For full details, please see the job description.

What you'll get in return

Working at the House of Lords means joining a community that values your wellbeing, growth and contribution.

You'll benefit from:
  • 30 days annual leave (rising to 35 after one year).
  • Generous Civil Service pension scheme.
  • A comprehensive Parliamentary health and wellbeing programme.
  • Access to a wide range of learning and development opportunities across diverse professions.
  • The chance to witness democracy in action and work in a place of historic national significance.

The work we do is vital to the House of Lords - the second chamber of the UK Parliament. It plays a critical role in making laws, scrutinising government, and providing independent expertise on national issues.
