Job description

The Vacancy

Are you a tech-savvy problem solver with a passion for helping people and an eagerness to build your career in IT? The St Lawrence Academies Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused IT Technician to join our team. You will be a vital part of our tech support team, ensuring our students and staff have the secure, reliable technology they need to teach, learn, and succeed every day.

From troubleshooting classroom hardware on a busy morning to setting up audio-visual equipment for an academy presentation, this is a role for someone who takes genuine pride in delivering great tech support.

This isn't just a "sitting behind a desk" tech job-it's a dynamic, hands-on role where you'll wear many hats:
End-User & Helpdesk Support: Providing friendly, responsive support to staff, students, and visitors via our IT helpdesk, explaining technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
Hardware Maintenance & Setup: Completing daily device checks, managing printer supplies, performing general maintenance, and installing new hardware and software.
User Administration: Assisting with user account administration, password resets, and access management across network and cloud-based systems.
System Security & Stability: Helping maintain system security, safety, and stability across all Trust IT infrastructure.
Website & Event Support: Keeping the academy website updated and providing technical/AV support for live events, assemblies, and meetings.

We are looking for an approachable, proactive individual who can work on their own initiative while being a great team player. You should have:
Core Qualifications: GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics.
Technical & Problem-Solving Skills: A sound working knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and basic networking would be desirable, paired with strong, creative troubleshooting skills.
Communication & Customer Focus: Verbal and written communication skills with a patient, customer-focused attitude toward supporting staff and pupils.
Safeguarding: Full commitment to safeguarding children and promoting pupil welfare

If you have a passion for technology, a helpful attitude, and want to start or grow your IT career in a rewarding environment, we'd love to hear from you.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Garry Drinkall, Digital and Infrastructure Lead on 01724 747310.
