This role has a starting salary of £34,660 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week.

We are excited to be hiring a new Information Officer to join our fantastic Highway Information Team based at the Merrow Depot in Guildford.

This role is open to hybrid working with the right balance. As a team we split our time between collaborating with colleagues in the office and working remotely, including from home. This can be discussed further at interview.

About The Role

Reporting into the Highway Boundary Team Leader, the role of Information Officer is a key position within the Highway Information Team who sit within the Highways, Transport and Network Management Service in the Place Directorate. The team provides accurate and timely responses to a variety of highway related enquires and develops and maintains the systems to enable this.

In this role you will be responsible for managing a diverse workload of enquires from customers; building relationships with a variety of internal and external partners, and providing advice on sometimes complex highway status and land ownership matters.

Your key responsibilities as an Information Officer will include:
  • Responding to enquiries relating to highway matters, primarily those that relate to confirming the physical limit of the public highway
  • Collating and interrogating various information sources
  • Undertaking site surveys to assist with your research when required

Your Application

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours :
  • Educated to A-Level standard, or equivalent level of attainment, and/or relevant vocational qualification
  • Experience of analysing varied information sources such as legal documents, maps and plans etc
  • Ability to prioritise workload and use initiative
  • Strong organisational, communication and IT skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders

Surrey has both urban and rural areas and candidates will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK, access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area. This role is currently employed by Surrey County Council and will remain so until then.
