Job description
Information Officer (Maternity Cover) This is a full-time, fixed term (Maternity Cover) position for up to 9 months or until the post holder returns. Lincoln Bishop University is located on a beautifully green and pleasant campus just a few minutes' walk from Lincoln Cathedral, Castle, and the old Roman city. Our story began in the 1860s as an Anglican teacher training college for women, which makes us one of the oldest Higher Education Institutions in the UK. Since then, we've grown, adapted, and modernised to become the thriving university we are today. We're still experts in teaching and education, but we've now got a wider portfolio of exciting degree courses than ever before. We offer courses in a wide range of subjects, from Undergraduate Degree level to PhD, and much more in between.
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated Information Officer to work within our Information System and Returns department. This is a full-time, fixed-term maternity cover position for one year or until the substantive post holder returns.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience within a higher education environment. Working as part of a supportive team, you will contribute to the administration and maintenance of student information and support a range of activities throughout the student lifecycle.
You will assist with the operation of key University systems, including the student records system, timetabling systems and related applications. A substantial part of the role is focused on accurate data entry, checking, updating and maintaining student records, so careful attention to detail and the ability to remain focused on routine, repetitive tasks are essential. The role will involve responding to user queries, carrying out routine data processing activities, supporting annual administrative processes, and maintaining accurate records. Typical activities will include student record maintenance, portfolio management within the Student Loans Company (SLC) Course Management System, and assisting with statutory and external reporting activities, including Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) returns.
The role is particularly suited to candidates looking to develop experience in higher education administration, data management and information systems. You will gain valuable insight into the structure and operation of a university, develop an understanding of higher education terminology and processes, and work with systems that support regulatory and funding requirements.
Working under the direction of the Student Systems and Returns Manager and alongside colleagues across the University, you will contribute to maintaining high standards of data quality and customer service. You will also have opportunities to learn about the importance of accurate data in supporting decision-making, student administration and external reporting.
Whilst experience within higher education would be advantageous, we welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate strong organisational skills, good IT skills, accuracy in data entry, excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain concentration when working through detailed information or high-volume administrative tasks.
Lincoln Bishop University offers a generous employee benefits package including:
• 25 days holiday
• Plus 3 additional discretionary days annual leave over the Christmas period
• BG Flex (a private pension scheme managed by Aviva) offering a 10% employer contribution and the employee contributions are voluntary and flexible.
• Cycle to Work Scheme
• 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme including face to face counselling sessions
• Agile working scheme to support employees work-life balance
If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity to make a difference within Lincoln Bishop University then we look forward to hearing from you.
