Information is at the heart of everything we do. From protecting the personal data of vulnerable residents to ensuring openness and accountability through Freedom of Information requests, effective information governance plays a vital role in delivering trusted, high-quality public services. As an Information Governance Officer, you will help ensure that the Council manages information responsibly, lawfully, and ethically, supporting services that make a real difference to communities across Devon.

About the Role As an Information Governance Officer, you'll be a first point of contact for staff and the public on matters relating to Data Protection, Freedom of Information (FOI), and the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR).
You'll handle routine information requests and low-risk information security incidents, provide advice and guidance on information rights, support investigations, and maintain accurate case records. You'll also help manage the Council's case management system (iCasework) and corporate records management systems, ensuring information is handled effectively and in accordance with legal requirements.
Working closely with senior officers, you'll support the Council's compliance with information governance legislation and help promote good information management practices across the organisation.

You will have:
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence in dealing with colleagues, stakeholders, and members of the public.
- Experience in administration and managing information or data systems.
- A basic knowledge of Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation.
- The ability to prioritise a varied workload and adapt to changing demands.
- A positive, collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
