Nottingham Trent University is seeking a proactive, knowledgeable, and highly motivated Health and Safety Advisor to join our central Health, Safety & Wellbeing Team. This is an exciting opportunity to support a diverse range of specialist environments, including agricultural operations, technical workshops, and architecture, design and built environment studios.

Working closely with academic and professional service colleagues, you will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, and helping to create safe and healthy environments for our staff, students, and visitors

What You'll Be Doing

As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will:

• Provide expert health and safety advice and guidance across agricultural, technical, and built environment settings.
• Support the development and implementation of NTU's Health & Safety Management System.
• Conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections, and audits across farms, workshops, laboratories, and studio environments.
• Work collaboratively with farm managers, technical teams, academics, and other stakeholders to develop and maintain safe systems of work.
• Provide specialist advice on legislation and best practice, including PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, CDM, workplace transport, machinery safety, and related regulations.
• Support incident investigations, identify root causes, and develop effective corrective and improvement actions.
• Deliver health and safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks.
• Assist with contractor management, emergency preparedness, and business continuity planning.
• Champion continuous improvement and promote a positive, proactive safety culture across the University
