Job description
The Pupils, Staff and Governors of Raglan Church in Wales Voluntary Controlled Primary School are looking for an inspirational, compassionate and approachable leader to fill the post of Headteacher. They will be a person with a clear and ambitious vision for our future, who will continue to drive the school forward with the highest expectations, whilst empowering staff and pupils alike to 'Nurture, Inspire, Believe, Achieve'.
Our school is a deeply-rooted focal point in the local community, bringing together children, their families and the wider area through a strong sense of belonging. Our headteacher will consolidate and build upon these connections and ensure our school continues to be a welcoming, innovative and inclusive hub, where everyone feels valued and all pupils have the opportunity to thrive.
Our most recent Estyn inspection (February 2026) recognised in our school "a shared love of learning [being] promoted among staff and pupils. This sense of enthusiasm and commitment reflects the school's vision". Our inspire curriculum creates authentic learning experiences that enrich pupils' understanding and gives purpose
to their learning".
We are immensely proud of the strong environment of support for pupil independence and leadership developed within groups known as 'Raglan Change Makers', where pupils from all age groups have taken on purposeful leadership roles within diverse areas which, as Estyn recognised, gave pupils "a strong sense of pride and responsibility [and recognition of] the positive impact their voice and actions can have on others".
Our school is modern and built for integrated learning experiences that support every child to develop their skills at their own stage of development, centred on plaza learning environments. We believe it is an exciting and dynamic place to work and to learn.
As a Church in Wales School, we provide a nurturing environment, deep rooted in Christian values and are looking for a Headteacher who is committed and willing to embrace and develop the Christian ethos of our school.
