Help shape the future of youth justice across Greater Manchester.

Greater Manchester is establishing a Youth Justice Coordination Hub to strengthen collaboration, accelerate improvement and help ten local youth justice services work smarter together. Building on strong foundations of a plan already developed by youth justice services in Greater Manchester, we are looking for an ambitious and credible system leader to head the Hub and turn our shared vision into lasting change for children, families, victims and communities.

This area of work is of significant interest regionally and nationally. The post holder will be required to work flexibly, efficiently and creatively in developing this challenging and innovative programme designed to transform the approach to the youth justice system across Greater Manchester and improve outcomes for children over the next few years

All ten local authorities, through their Directors of Children's services as 'convenors of place' for children in Greater Manchester, have agreed to the Youth Justice Transformation Programme and support further strategic capability and capacity building. The role will involve working successfully at a strategic level with a variety of key stakeholders including but not exclusive to local authorities, the Deputy Mayor for Safer and Stronger Communities, Greater Manchester Police, Violence Reduction Unit, the knowledge economy including academics and researchers, Youth Endowment Fund, schools and education leads across GM, the GM Integrated Care Partnership, locality boards, the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Enterprise sector and central Government.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in shaping the future of youth justice across Greater Manchester and to contribute to the city-region's wider Live Well ambition, with its strong focus on prevention, early intervention and support rooted in communities. This role is part of GMCA's hybrid working scheme. Our hybrid working policy sets out a flexible approach, combining attendance at our Manchester city centre office, allocated GM Local Authority office(s), or on site in the community, with remote working, typically from home (within a reasonable commutable distance from Greater Manchester); the location of work is primarily dictated by the needs of the business: 'Do what is right for you and the business on that day'.
