Head of Commercial Operations

We are transforming the way North Lincolnshire Council delivers leisure, culture and commercial services.

Our ambition is straightforward.

We want services that people value, want to use and choose to come back to - while becoming increasingly financially sustainable and reducing their reliance on council subsidy.

We are looking for an outstanding Head of Commercial Operations to lead that change.

This is a senior commercial leadership role with responsibility for our leisure and cultural venues, programming and events, memberships, income generation, commercial marketing, customer experience and business planning.

It is not a traditional local government leisure or culture role.

We are looking for someone who thinks like a customer, understands markets and is comfortable managing commercial performance.

You will lead the development of a clear commercial growth strategy across our venues and services, increasing participation, growing income, strengthening customer retention and identifying new products, markets and partnerships.

That means looking differently at everything from pricing, programming and memberships to hospitality, events, digital engagement, CRM and the way customers experience our services.

You will use data and insight to understand what customers want, what performs well and where we should invest, change or stop.

You will have direct accountability for a significant operating budget and will be expected to drive year-on-year improvement in financial performance.

But commercial success in a council environment is about more than income.

Our services also contribute to healthier lives, stronger communities, inclusion and pride in place.

The challenge is to bring those objectives together, creating and offer that is commercially strong while continuing to deliver meaningful public value.

We want someone who can bring commercial pace, creativity and discipline into a complex public-service environment.

You may come from leisure, hospitality, visitor attractions, entertainment, cultural venues or another customer-facing commercial business.

What matters is your track record.

You will have grown markets, improved customer participation, managed profit and loss, developed successful products and offers and used data to drive better commercial decisions.

You will also be an inspiring leader, able to build commercial confidence across a diverse workforce and create a culture where people understand the customer, the numbers and the outcomes they are responsible for.

This is a chance to shape a new operating model rather than inherit an established one.
