Detailed job description and main responsibilities KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS• To support and take joint responsibility for the clinical work of other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• To teach undergraduates and post-graduate trainees and healthcare workers that rotate through the Department
• To ensure that clinical practice is both effective and efficient and that appropriate monitoring of clinical care takes place by actively participating in audit.
• To work with the CMG management team to ensure that services are delivered efficiently and reflect best practice with processes and governance to match.
• To provide continuing responsibility for the care of the patients in their charge and for the proper organisation and functioning of their clinical practice.
• To take responsibility for ensuring that critical clinical incidents, as defined in the Trust's 'Critical Incident Policy', are reported in a timely manner.
• To undertake mandatory &statutory training as determined by the Trust and the CMG
Person specificationTraining and qulifications Essential criteria - GMC registration
- FRCS (Tr & Orth or Plastics)
- ATLS
Desirable criteria - Broad logbook of hand and wrist surgery procedures performed
- Attendance at appropriate professional courses and conferences
Experience Essential criteria - CCT/CESR in T&O or Plastic Surgery
- Basic hand & wrist surgery experience
Desirable criteria - Experience of teaching/supervising junior colleagues
Analytical and judgement skills Essential criteria - To demonstrate appropriate analytical and judgement skills
Skills Essential criteria - Ability to perform the initial assessment and treatment of the common trauma and elective hand and wrist surgery conditions, particularly hand emergencies
- - Supervised experience of the common hand and wrist surgery procedures (as specified in the TIG Quality Indicators)
Desirable criteria - Independent (level 4 PBA) in performing the common hand and wrist surgery index procedures
Communication & Relationship Skills Essential criteria - Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
Desirable criteria - Self-motivated individual Positive attitude

The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.
The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.
