Graduate Transitions and Opportunities Project Officer

Graduate Transitions and Opportunities Project Officer

Help Students and Graduates Take Their Next Step

Are you passionate about connecting students and graduates with career opportunities? Do you enjoy building relationships with employers, coordinating projects and creating positive outcomes for others?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Graduate Transitions and Opportunities Project Officer to join our Careers and Employability team on a five-month fixed-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting graduate success by connecting employers, students and recent graduates with meaningful opportunities, mentoring programmes and employability support.

Working closely with employers, alumni, academic colleagues and students, you will help source graduate jobs and internships, coordinate career mentoring activity, support graduate destination initiatives and build valuable employer relationships that benefit our students and graduates.

About the Role

As Graduate Transitions and Opportunities Project Officer, you will:
  • Act as a key contact for employers seeking to engage with the University.
  • Promote and advertise graduate jobs, internships and early-career opportunities.
  • Coordinate graduate and final-year student engagement initiatives.
  • Lead the operational delivery of the University's career mentoring programme.
  • Attend employer networking events and business forums.
  • Develop engaging digital and social media communications.
  • Work collaboratively with Careers & Employability Consultants, Work Placements colleagues, Alumni and wider University teams.
  • Support and coordinate project activity to achieve agreed outcomes within the contract period.

The role offers a blend of relationship-building, project coordination, student support and employer engagement, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a people-focused environment.

About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

Essential Criteria
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of employer engagement, business development, recruitment, account management or partnership development.
  • Experience coordinating projects, programmes or events.
  • Experience sourcing, promoting or matching people to opportunities such as jobs, internships, placements or mentoring schemes.
  • Experience using CRM, case-management or similar systems.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A commitment to inclusive, accessible and high-quality service delivery.
  • Ability to travel to employer locations, University sites and events as required.

Why Join Us?

You'll become part of a supportive and ambitious Careers and Employability team dedicated to improving outcomes for students and graduates. This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact within a short period, helping graduates secure employment, develop professional networks and access life-changing opportunities.

We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, respected and able to thrive.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

We welcome applications from all sections of the community and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We particularly encourage applications from groups currently under-represented within higher education.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) During Recruitment

We recognise that candidates may choose to use generative AI tools (such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT or similar technologies) to support the preparation of job applications.

Applicants may use AI to help with activities such as researching the role, improving spelling and grammar, or structuring application responses. However, any information submitted must be the applicant's own work, accurately reflect their skills, qualifications and experience, and be truthful and authentic.

During the selection process we will assess applicants' own knowledge, experience, judgement and communication skills. We may explore examples provided in applications during interviews and assessment activities.

Informal Enquiries

If you would like an informal discussion about the role before applying, please contact Sally Harding or Vikki Brockhurst in the Careers and Employability team.
