The current opportunity is available to current Manchester Met students only. To apply, you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

The School of Education is looking to recruit one student on a short-term basis to contact former teacher training graduates and gather information about their current employment status.

The role involves updating a spreadsheet and contacting graduates by email, telephone and text message to ask a small number of questions. A script and mobile phone will be provided, and all responses will be recorded on a spreadsheet.

About the role

The role will run for approximately six weeks and involves working around 2 hours per day, typically between 5:00pm and 7:00pm, when graduates are most likely to be available.

During these hours, you will:

  • Prepare and send emails and text messages to graduates.
  • Contact graduates by telephone.
  • Record and update responses accurately on a spreadsheet.

The successful applicant will work remotely but will be required to visit campus to collect and return the mobile phone at the start and end of the role.

Before starting the role, the successful candidate must complete the two mandatory training modules below. Time spent completing the training will be paid.

Dates and commitment
  • Duration: Monday 5 October 2026 to Friday 13 November 2026 (dates may be shortened or extended depending on progress).
  • Hours: Up to 10 hours per week.
  • Working pattern: Typically 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Monday to Friday, as agreed with the recruiting department.
  • Briefing: Online briefing session, plus in-person collection and return of the mobile phone from the Brooks Building.

Interviews for this role will take place during the week commencing 14 September 2026.

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met students who meet the following requirements.

All applicants must:

  • Have excellent communication skills, particularly when speaking on the phone.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Be confident contacting former students by telephone while remaining professional, courteous and sensitive to individual circumstances.
  • Have access to a laptop capable of running Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Be able to travel to campus to collect and return equipment at the start and end of the project.
  • Be available to work between 5:00pm and 7:00pm, Monday to Friday, throughout the duration of the project.
