Help people plan with confidence for later life

Are you passionate about empowering people to make informed decisions about their future? Do you enjoy building relationships, supporting individuals, and making a real difference in your community?

Age UK York is looking for a compassionate and motivated

Financial Guidance Officer to help launch and develop an exciting new pilot service that supports people approaching and living in retirement.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of an innovative project that helps people in mid to later life feel more confident about their future.

Working with clients, to enable people to explore their options and make informed decisions. While this is not a financial advice role, you will provide guidance and signposting that helps individuals better understand their circumstances and plan.

Topics may include:
  • Budgeting and managing finances
  • Housing options
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Employment and volunteering opportunities
  • Future care and support needs

Alongside supporting clients, you will play a key role in developing referral pathways, building relationships with partner organisations, promoting the service across York, and helping to measure and report on the project's impact.

About You

We're looking for someone who:
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Can explain complex information in a clear and accessible way
  • Is confident building relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Is organised, proactive, and able to work independently

has experience in:
  • Information and advice services
  • Pensions or financial services
  • Adult social care
  • Housing support
  • Community engagement
  • Customer support or guidance services
