Job overviewPrevious applicants need not applyAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed, enthusiastic and motivated person to join the urology nursing team. This is an across site post, with nurse-led clinics at the newly established Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Mile End Hospital, which will be a 7 day service with 12 hour days.
The successful applicant will be part of a well-established multi-disciplinary team working closely with the Urology Consultants, junior doctors and other Nurse Specialists across Barts Health
You will be expected to play an active part in supporting the quality of care delivered to urology cancer patients through clinical practice, nurse led clinics, education, research and audit.
The post holder should have experience in urological nursing and to have acquired substantial knowledge and associated advanced nursing skills for bladder/renal cancers in their career so far .

Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will work as an independent practitioner and with members of the multidisciplinary team, provide advice and support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals on bladder cancer, across both secondary and primary care. The post which will be a 7 day service with 12 hour days, across Barts Health.
The post holder will influence the positive experience of patients and carers living with bladder cancer by working with the multi-disciplinary team across the Trust and acting as the patients key worker.
The post holder will promote safe, competent and evidence- based practice, in line with national objectives and within the clinical governance framework.

Person specificationQualifications Essential criteria - Registered Nurse
- Nurse Education qualification
Desirable criteria - Evidence of work towards Masters qualification
- Degree Qualification in Cancer Related topic, preferably Urological Cancer
Experience Essential criteria - Senior sister experience or or CNS experience
Desirable criteria - Experience of change management
- Experience in the development of support networks.
- Developing Nurse led clinics
Knowledge Essential criteria - Proven clinical skills & sound knowledge in urology and bladder cancer
- Knowledge of Cancer patient pathways including those of breach dates and timeframes for treatment.
- Knowledge of Cancer patient Experience and ideas of how Barts Health can improve position
- Understanding shared governance
- Clear understanding of clinical governance
Skills Essential criteria - Advanced Communication Skills
- Ability to work alone and under pressure
- Ability to manage complex situations both clinically and in terms of administration
- Run nurse lead clinics
- Presentation Skills (often have to present at MDT)
Desirable criteria - Clinical leadership skills
- Advanced decision making skills
