At Nottinghamshire County Council, we are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of families and children. Our mission is to empower communities and support families from pregnancy through to age 19. We believe in a collaborative approach, working closely with health, education, and social care partners to create a nurturing environment for all.

As a Family Support Practitioner, you will play a vital role in delivering one-to-one support and parenting programmes. Your work will empower families to thrive in their homes and communities, ensuring they have the tools and resources they need to succeed. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of children and families.

In this role, you will:
  • Provide personalised support to families, helping them navigate challenges and access services.
  • Collaborate with partners across health, education, and social care to ensure a holistic approach to family support.
  • Deliver engaging parenting programmes that equip families with essential skills.
  • Empower families to build resilience and thrive in their communities.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working with children and families, particularly those with school-aged children and teenagers.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel to various locations.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
  • Empathy and understanding: A genuine passion for meeting the holistic needs of families.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: The ability to build trusting relationships with families and colleagues.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work across Family Hubs, family homes, and community venues, including occasional evenings and weekends.

At Nottinghamshire County Council, we offer:
  • A place to belong: A friendly, inclusive workplace where everyone is valued.
  • Flexible working: Opportunities to balance work and personal life.
  • Professional development: Continuous training and support to help you grow in your career.
  • Generous leave: A supportive environment that prioritises your well-being.
