Job description

Grade 6 - £29,071 for 30 hours per week term time only for 45.8 weeks per annum equating to £20,704.94 pro rata.

Pembrokeshire Learning Centre is seeking a committed and approachable Family Engagement Officer to support pupils and families experiencing difficulties with school attendance and punctuality.

The successful candidate will be an important part of a multi-agency approach, working with pupils, parents, schools and external professionals to address social, emotional and welfare difficulties and promote positive engagement with education.

You will also support and enhance community education programmes and help the school meet its statutory responsibilities around access, attendance and punctuality.

Key responsibilities

You will:
  • Identify attendance and punctuality concerns at an early stage and provide support and advice to parents and families.
  • Liaise with the Education Welfare Service where enhanced support or intervention is required.
  • Organise and facilitate meetings with families and outside agencies, both in person and online.
  • Liaise with schools and parents regarding pupils attending PLC on a part-time basis, particularly in relation to behaviour and attendance.
  • Maintain manual and computerised records and information systems, including SIMS.
  • Analyse attendance and other relevant data and produce reports as required.
  • Complete relevant forms, returns and records for outside agencies, including Teams Around the Family (TAF), SEN reviews, home visits and safeguarding information.
  • Monitor and record progress against pupil support plans.
  • Support pupils with transitions within and between schools.
  • Establish constructive relationships with families, schools, agencies and other professionals.
  • Provide parenting advice and contribute to regular team meetings.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
