Job Description: Hiscox Technology comprises a Corporate Centre team and five business-aligned Technology teams partnering with our federated businesses. Our retail technology teams partner with the UK, Europe and US business units. Our 'big ticket' technology teams partner with the London Market and Re & ILS businesses. Corporate Centre consists of Group & Enterprise Services, IT Services and Information Security. Each team is led by a Technology Director who reports in to the CIO. Collectively the goal of the Technology organisation is to put Technology at the heart of the business.
Hiscox are hiring for an experienced and capable Environment Manager to support a mix of on-premise, Azure and Oracle Cloud environments, You will have experience working within a heterogeneous environment delivering platforms / solutions in a high demand / high availability businesses.
This role will require you to take overall responsibility for all components of the environments supporting our Group Data Engineering team and work closely with the delivery teams to support and ensure that solutions are fit for purpose.
You will be required to ensure that the controlled release of the new platforms and environments is suitable and implemented to meet the need of the business; help define the environments to be delivered into live and support and monitor the platform during its lifetime.
Create, own and maintain the environment strategy
Create and maintain an inventory of environment components
Create and maintain non-production environment related processes and templates
Plan and co-ordinate availability of non-production environments
Schedule maintenance slots and manage the environment usage communication plan
Establish and monitor Service Level Agreements with the project teams and support teams for environment provision, availability and support
Work with Delivery managers and Test Leads to coordinate planned outage and environment refreshes
Define and forecast requirements for support resources for non-production environments
Maintain an environment usage plan and track the provision and maintenance of environments
Manage requests for environment build activity
Manage and report on Risks / Assumptions / Issues and Dependencies of test environments
Sign off environment maintenance activities prior to systems being released to projects
Ownership of the release plan & implementation dates - act as the sign off for changes
Design and implement efficient procedures for the distribution and installation of changes to the systems
Ensure that hardware and software being changed is traceable, secure and that only correct, authorised and tested versions are released
Develop application environment patching and upgrade plans
Co-ordinate infrastructure upgrades and changes with the Infrastructure Team
Implementation planning and deployment management
Understanding of system architecture best practices
Agile Release Management, Agile Experience
Azure deployment experience
Background in integrated systems
Understanding of code branching
Good experience of using Jira, Confluence, MS Teams or similar collaboration tools
Exposure to large scale projects/programmes and working in a matrix environment with 3 rd party suppliers
Hold relevant industry qualifications (e.g. ITIL, Agile)
Intellect and gravitas to influence and gain credibility with stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Creative, proactive, logical and innovative - you do not accept the status quo
