Base: Leicestershire and South Warwickshire predominantly, but may be asked tocover other areas occasionally

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a fully independentpractitioner performing and reporting a full range of adult Echocardiograms ina community setting to BSE standards. They will demonstrate clinical leadershipand work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Job responsibilities

Clinicaland Technical

To independentlyperform and report adult transthoracic Echocardiograms to current BSEstandards.

Organise andprioritise own daily workload based on clinical urgency.

Provide a clinicalreport in a timely manner and inform the referring clinician of any findingsthat would necessitate a change in clinical management.

To analyse andinterpret complex information using best practice and make autonomous decisionsbased on the information provided.

Maintain own CPD andBSE / EACVI accreditation.

Keep up to date withcurrent developments and advances in Echocardiography and general Cardiology.

Respond promptly toemergencies.

To deliverappropriate patient care at all times.

To establish andmaintain good working relationships with all members of the organisation.

To actively takepart in the training and development of staff / trainees.

To maintain patientconfidentiality in line with corporate policy at all times.

Actively participatein MDT meetings providing specialist knowledge to other echocardiographers andmedical staff.

To ensure that allequipment is in working order and report faults without delay.

To evaluate andassess new equipment prior to purchase in collaboration with the Echo lead.

Be aware of andcomply with all health and safety protocols as set out by the organization.

To be aware of thehealth and safety implications for Echocardiographers in relation to ergonomicswhilst scanning and take all necessary steps to minimise injury to oneself.

Ensure stock levelsare adequate to meet service needs.

The postholder maybe required to travel to remote clinical locations (Full UK Driving license ispreferable with access to their own vehicle)

Support theEchocardiography lead to ensure delivery of a high-quality and efficientEchocardiography service by proposing and implementing changes to develop andimprove service provision.
