The Children and Families Department takes a strengths-based approach to working with each other, children, young people and families, and our partner agencies. We call this 'Our Nottinghamshire Approach'. Watch the two minute animation to learn more.

Join Nottinghamshire County Council, a dedicated team committed to making a positive impact in our community. We believe in creating a nurturing environment where every child can thrive. Our focus is on supporting families and ensuring that children are ready for learning and development.

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will play a vital role in delivering evidence-based interventions to help children aged 0-5 achieve their developmental milestones. You will work closely with families, providing essential early help services to those at risk of poor outcomes. Your efforts will strengthen the home learning environment, empowering parents as their child's first educators.

In this rewarding role, you will:
  • Deliver tailored interventions to support children's readiness for learning.
  • Collaborate with families to provide early help services in homes and communities.
  • Conduct one-to-one sessions with parents/carers to meet identified needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports as required.
  • Work alongside a multi-agency team to ensure comprehensive support for children and families.
  • Uphold confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding policies.

To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • A minimum of two years' experience working with children aged 0-5 and their families.
  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare (or equivalent).
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
  • Knowledge of child development, safeguarding, and early intervention strategies.
  • Familiarity with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
  • Compassionate Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work in partnership with various agencies and community organisations.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work in diverse settings, including Family Hubs and community venues.
  • Commitment to Continuous Learning: A desire for professional development and staying updated with best practices.

At Nottinghamshire County Council, we offer:
  • A place to belong: A friendly, inclusive workplace where everyone is valued.
  • Professional growth: Opportunities for continuous training and development.
  • Work-life balance: Flexible working arrangements to support your personal commitments.
  • Generous leave: A supportive environment that prioritises your wellbeing.
