Job description

We are recruiting an Early Years and Childcare Trainee at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 30
Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31st March 2027
Location: Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.
Team: Early Years

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organisation.

We pay an attractive salary of £22,466.76 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

This trainee role provides an opportunity to develop practical skills and experience across the Early Years and Childcare service while completing the Level 2 Children's Care, Play, Learning and Development qualification through the Welsh Apprenticeship Framework.

Trainees work alongside experienced staff to support children and families in childcare settings and early intervention programmes, deliver child development activities, and contribute to day-to-day service delivery.

This role offers structured learning, workplace training, and personal development opportunities, enabling individuals to gain valuable experience, build confidence, and develop a career within the Early Years sector.

For the role, we ask that you have:
  • GCSEs Grade A*-C Mathematics and English Language or equivalent Level 2 qualifications on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales (Essential Skills or Key Skills equivalent)
  • No direct experience required for this role, but candidates will need to evidence a genuine interest to develop skills and experience in this area of work
  • Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the borough
