We are looking for a dynamic, committed Duty Manager to join our management team at Pembroke Leisure Centre - a vibrant, multi-activity hub set against the stunning backdrop of West Wales' Pembrokeshire coast.

Living and working here offers the best of both worlds: the satisfaction of a fast-paced, people-focused leadership role and the lifestyle benefits of one of the UK's most beautiful coastal regions.

The Role

As a Duty Manager, you will be at the heart of our operation, leading a diverse team to deliver exceptional customer experience at every turn. From motivating staff on the poolside to ensuring the smooth running of the sports hall and fitness studios, your leadership will set the tone for the whole centre.

You will combine strong organisational skills with an approachable, hands-on style - giving clear direction, offering practical support, and inspiring your team to go the extra mile. No two days are ever the same, and you will thrive on variety, quick thinking, and the pride that comes from seeing your team succeed and customers leave happy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and inspire the daily operations team, ensuring every customer enjoys a safe, welcoming, and high-quality experience.
  • Actively monitor staffing levels, arranging cover when needed, and managing rotas efficiently.
  • Be visible and approachable-tour the facility regularly to check standards, support staff, and address issues promptly.
  • Handle customer enquiries that require managerial input, ensuring a positive resolution.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to address maintenance needs.
  • Ensure Health & Safety compliance at all times.
  • Serve as a main key holder, including opening/closing duties and emergency call-outs.

What We Are Looking For
  • A confident, people-focused leader with a proven ability to motivate, guide, and support teams in all roles.
  • Passionate about customer satisfaction and creating memorable experiences.
  • Experience in the leisure industry, ideally at Duty Manager or Supervisor level.
  • Holds (or willing to train for) NPLQ and Pool Plant Operators qualifications.
  • Flexible and adaptable-able to work earlies, evenings, weekends (one in three), and bank holidays.
  • Willing to relocate to or already living in the area.

Why Join Us?
  • Be part of a friendly, professional team
  • Play a key role in shaping a positive, customer-first culture.
  • Opportunities for training and career development.
  • Generous holiday allowance (26 days plus 8 bank holidays) and membership in an excellent local authority pension scheme
  • Enjoy the lifestyle of Pembrokeshire's spectacular coastline.
