Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Direct Payments Team as a Direct Payment Administrator on a 24-month fixed-term basis.

This rewarding role plays an important part in supporting individuals to have greater choice, independence, and control over how their care and support needs are met. You will support people receiving Direct Payments to understand and manage their arrangements confidently, while ensuring compliance with relevant guidance, policies, and procedures.

Working as part of a busy and supportive team, you will help people access and maintain Direct Payment arrangements, contributing to the delivery of a high-quality service for adults, children, families, and carers across Pembrokeshire.

Based at County Hall, Haverfordwest, with flexible hybrid working arrangements available, you will contribute to the effective day-to-day administration of the Direct Payments service and support the wider team in delivering a responsive and customer-focused service to individuals, carers, and professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advice, guidance, and practical support to individuals receiving Direct Payments, helping them to manage their care arrangements effectively.
  • Support the administration and processing of Direct Payments, ensuring accurate record keeping and compliance with procedures.
  • Respond to enquiries from service users, carers, providers, and professionals in a professional and timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to support smooth service delivery.
  • Assist with monitoring and maintaining financial and administrative records associated with Direct Payments.
  • Occasionally travel within the county to attend meetings or provide face-to-face support to individuals who may be unable to access services remotely.

About You

We are looking for a proactive, organised, and approachable individual with excellent communication and customer service skills.

You will ideally have:
  • Experience within an administrative, financial, customer service, or social care environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with a wide range of individuals.
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications.
