We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as a Digital Forensics Supervisor, responsible for management of digital forensic specialists, undertaking volume and complex investigations into digital devices and data sources. Could you be who we are looking for?
About the team/Department you will be joining:
We are a unique and growing team in an exciting area of policing, conducting forensic examinations of digital devices for all types of criminal investigations.
- The Digital Forensic Unit consists of a laboratory based out of Pontprennau in Cardiff with mobile phone examination capabilities within stations across our force area.
- The Digital Forensics Unit staff are regularly exposed to indecent and unpleasant material during their investigations. Supervisors will also encounter this material in the course of their duties and will be responsible for the wellbeing of their team.
About the role and your key responsibilities:
- The role will be based at our Pontprennau office with first line leader responsibility for police staff and officers across the digital forensics estate.
- The post holder will quality assure and monitor team workloads, conducting regular meetings with staff to monitor performance and wellbeing.
- The work undertaken within the Unit is accredited to ISO 17025 / 17020 standards as required by the Forensic Science Regulator for all forensic activities (See FSR Code of Practice, ISO17025:2017, ILAC G19), with work inspected by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). Supervisors will dip sample work to ensure quality standards are met and maintain the competence of their staff through CPD and training.
What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:
- Qualifications, knowledge and experience in digital forensic working practices is essential.
- Experience in managing specialist staff with emphasis on performance and wellbeing management would be beneficial.
- Ability to prioritise and manage competing demands on a regular basis.
- Experience working within an ISO controlled environment.

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MVSC Vetting.
