What if you could do the kind of work the world needs?

At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects and connect with the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.

A little more about your role...

We are seeking a Design Safety Compliance Co-ordinator to join our growing team, supporting the safe and successful delivery of major power, electricity transmission and distribution, low-carbon, renewable energy, and wider energy infrastructure projects across the UK.

Working within multidisciplinary project teams, you will support the integration of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) requirements, Safety in Design (SiD) principles, and compliance processes throughout the project lifecycle. You will assist project teams, designers, and clients in identifying, recording, and managing health, safety, and operational risks associated with the design, construction, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning of infrastructure assets.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual to develop expertise in design safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance while contributing to nationally significant energy and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of CDM 2015 and Safety in Design requirements across projects.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and maintenance of design risk registers and hazard records.
  • Co-ordinate safety in design workshops, risk reviews, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Monitor and track actions arising from design risk assessments and compliance reviews.
  • Support the collection, management, and distribution of Pre-Construction Information (PCI).
  • Assist in the compilation and handover of Health and Safety File information.
  • Undertake compliance checks, audits, and gap analysis activities against CDM and client requirements.
  • Liaise with project managers, designers, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure safety considerations are embedded within project delivery.
  • Prepare reports, meeting minutes, action trackers, and compliance documentation.
  • Promote continual improvement and sharing of best practice in design safety and compliance.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate...
  • Experience in a project co-ordination, design safety, compliance, health and safety, or engineering support role.
  • Understanding of CDM 2015 principles and their application within infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Strong organisational and document management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities within a fast-paced project environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and project management systems.

Desirable Requirements
  • Experience within the energy, utilities, power transmission and distribution, renewable energy, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Knowledge of design risk management and Safety in Design processes.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent qualification.
  • Membership of, or working towards membership of, IOSH, APS, IIRSM, or a relevant professional body.
  • Experience supporting CDM compliance activities on major projects.

What You'll Bring

You will be a collaborative and detail-oriented individual with a passion for improving safety outcomes through effective co-ordination and communication. You will enjoy working with multidisciplinary teams and helping ensure that health, safety, and compliance requirements are effectively embedded into project delivery from concept through to completion.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of critical UK energy infrastructure projects while developing your career in design safety, CDM compliance, and risk management.
