Job summary

We currently have a Band 6 Sister Vacancy on Sophie Day assessment Unit. This is initially on a Fixed term basis, however is likely to become a permanent position.

Sophie's Place on the Winchester site is an Ambulatory Care Unit where children, who require a specialist Paediatric Consultation, can be seen and assessed. These children are referred from GP's, Emergency Department, Community Children's nurses, School Nurses and Health Visitors.

Our band 6 team are crucial to providing supportive leadership and high quality care to our patients and families

Main duties of the job

Our band 6 team lead the day to day delivery of high quality care to children and young people with a range of clinical needs, including those with medical and surgical complaints. No two days are the same!

As a band 6, you would be responsible for the line management of a team of band 5 nurses and band 3 health care support workers. Alongside this, your team would be the lead on various elements of ward setup and safety, and for a number of clinical link roles. This allows all team members to have an input in constantly evaluating and developing our services

We actively provide our nurses with the opportunities to develop within our teams. Do you feel ready for career progression but wish to have support in developing your leadership skills. Are you an enthusiastic nurse who is able to foster inter-professional team working using excellent interpersonal and leadership skills?

We will provide and support you with clinical and management/leadership development for you to develop strong clinical paediatric skills in a supportive environment. If you are passionate about caring for children and their families then we would like to meet you.

  • Professional UK registration e.g. RSC, CHDip, NMCerbal
  • Project management learning and/or development
  • Formal training &/or experience in mentorship
Desirable

  • Additional Post graduate learning in specialist field including masters degree or working towards
Experience & Knowledge

  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD) clearly recorded for professional profile
  • Understanding of Health Environment policies and legislation including Clinical, HR, E&D, Governance
  • Evidence of significant post registration clinical work experience
