The Governors of Glan Usk Primary School are seeking to appoint an innovative and inspirational Deputy Headteacher. This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant and forward-thinking school community. The appointed candidate will work alongside a highly motivated and creative Headteacher & Deputy Headteacher, a supportive and enthusiastic
staff team, eager learners, a committed Governing Body, and engaged parents and carers. The successful candidate will be committed to delivering education and teaching of the highest standard, building on the success of this outstanding primary school and ensuring the very best opportunities for all children.

The Governing Body are committed to appointing a Deputy Headteacher who:

• Demonstrate a passion and a high-level skill set for leading outstanding teaching and learning across the school,
• Lead and promote excellence, equity and high expectations of behaviour, deploying positive behaviour management strategies effectively and consistently,
• Ensure that the well-being of all children is central to all that they do and build a relationship of mutual respect with the pupils, parents, staff, wider community and the Governing Body,
• Show excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills,
• Motivate, inspire and generate enthusiasm in a team environment and have a flexible and positive approach to challenge and change,
• Own a strong professional learning record and articulate aspirations for headship, being able to deputise for the headteacher on a regular basis,
• Demonstrate a deep understanding of the Curriculum for Wales and in its progression and assessment,
• Understand how to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with additional needs or those who are multilingual, have particular talent or are vulnerable,
• Bring energy, enthusiasm, positivity and drive to fulfil the role to the best of their ability at all times,
• Is an inspirational leader who has a clear vision for the partnership,
• Has experience of ALN processes and procedures.
