Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Using detailed knowledge and being proficient in the use of the PAS, guide and coach all relevant operational staff to ensure that accurate information is obtained and recorded in a timely way.
• Function effectively in an environment of frequently changing priorities to deal with emerging issues.
• Influence improvements in data quality standards so that data collectors understand & acknowledge the importance of good quality information. Key to the role is the ability to assess and challenge established work processes and to encourage ownership of improvements and making impact on local policy.
• Work to parameters set by policies and procedures, some of which the post-holder will have assisted in developing and writing. Show a high degree of personal accountability in managing personal workload and conduct, pro-actively escalating issues to the Data Quality Service Manager to enable the teams focus to be revised as required.

Training

Essential criteria
  • Good general level of education to HNC, NVQ level 3 or equivalent knowledge & experience, involving analytical techniques in a large organisation


Desirable criteria
  • Graduate Formal IT qualification Auditor Certification


Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 3 - 4 years NHS experience working within an admin/clerical role (or elsewhere where large amounts of data are processed and data flows throughout a whole organisation)
  • Use of Patient Administration System or equivalent. Knowledge of NHS information requirements and terminolog
  • Broad NHS patient data flows
  • In depth working knowledge of the impact of poor data quality
  • Principles of Patient Access e.g. fairness, equality Continuously keep knowledge & understanding up to date on information directives from the Dept of Health


Desirable criteria
  • Technical expertise in data analysis tools
  • Secondary Uses Service and role within NHS.


Communication

Essential criteria
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Team worker, providing cross-cover for others and sharing expertise
  • Ability to train others within specific guidelines


Desirable criteria
  • Data analysis in an NHS environment.
  • Formally trained in data analysis techniques


Analytical and Judgement skills

Essential criteria
  • Experience in the application of data extraction and analysis tools
  • Attention to detail
  • Accurate and fast transcription of data and reports
  • Good analytical report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to appraise and evaluate problems
  • Use of an electronic document management system.

  • Data analysis in an NHS environment.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

Please note if you are successful in obtaining this position and the post involves regulated activity you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service check.

The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.

The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.

COVID 19 Risk Assessment

Due to the current Covid pandemic we have introduced a staff risk assessment into our pre-employment process. This now forms part of the mandatory pre-employment checks that will be carried out if you receive a conditional offer.
