Job summary

This is a newlyestablished post for a full or part time Consultant Rheumatologist based atBarnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

We arelooking to expand our small but highly effective rheumatology medical teamof three consultants and one veryexperienced associate specialist.

Thisopportunity is unlikely to arise again for many years!

Our candidatemust be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of achieving this.

The post willbe based at Barnsley Hospital, one of four Foundation Trusts in SouthYorkshire, and in our opinion, the best to work in.

Theappointee will work closely with the existing Consultant Rheumatologists, andother members of the multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive serviceto our local patient population. If youenjoy working in a small, friendly hospital, where people know and talk to eachother, then this post is for you. Unless you want to practice general medicineas well, there is no on call commitment.

QUALIFICATIONS

The post ofConsultant Rheumatologist requires evidence of Accreditation by the RoyalCollege / Possession of a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training /Evidence of Registration with the Royal College.

Applicants musttherefore have full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist Register(or be within six months of CCT at time ofinterview).

Essential

  • The post of Consultant Rheumatologist requires evidence of Accreditation by the Royal College / Possession of a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training / Evidence of Registration with the Royal College.
  • MRCP (or equivalent).
  • On the specialist register for rheumatology (or within 6 months of anticipated registration).
Desirable

  • Holder of diplomas or qualifications pertinent to Rheumatology.
  • Holder of a higher relevant qualification such as an MD, MSc or PhD
Management/Clinical Governance

Essential

  • Willingness to work as a member of a team and share administrative responsibilities.
  • Ability to contribute positively in Directorate and Trust management.
